Notes on Hebrews – What is the context of the book of Hebrews? How are we to understand this book?  Is the author really telling the Hebrews they should no longer worship and sacrifice at the Temple?   Here are some very brief notes that I made as I was reading and studying this book.

Timing of the Death and Resurrection of the Messiah – Was the Messiah really buried on Friday afternoon and raised on Sunday morning?  And if so, how could He have been in the tomb 3 days and 3 nights? What do Scriptures really say about all this? And how are Passover, Unleavened Bread, and Firstfruits linked to the death, burial and resurrection of the Messiah.

Under the Law – 1 Cor 9 – Paul says, “To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law”.  What does this mean?  At first glance it would seem that Paul is saying that since he is now a Christian, he no longer needs to obey the Torah.  Could this be true, or are we missing something?

YHWH’s Promise to Israel – Just what is God’s promise to Israel?  And how do the Gentiles and New Covenant fit in?  What are his promises to us as Gentiles?
